Working with Japanese Technical Committee on the Progress of the Model Joint Research Projects

With the aim of building capacity for Can Tho University (CTU) in three fields (agriculture, aquaculture, and environment) to be an internationally recognized institution of education, scientific research and technology transfer, contributing to value-added agriculture and aquaculture, and solution of environmental issues of the Mekong Delta region, Technical Cooperation Project (TC project) using Japan Government’s non-refundable aid has been implemented since March 2016. Main components of the Project are joint research, development of education programs, and enhancement of administration systems.

One of the important components of TC project is the implementation of model joint research projects between the researchers of Can Tho University and the Japanese partner universities. On June 21st, 2016, Can Tho University held a ceremony to sign the contract for implementation of four scientific research projects under the TC project including 2 projects in agriculture, 1 project in aquaculture and 1 project in environment. The duration of the projects lasted 2 years with the cost of 1 billion VND per project. In particular, these research projects are supported by nine Japanese universities with new ideas and technologies applied.
