Welcoming the U.S. Delegation for an Academic Exchange Program

From September 23rd to 26th, 2024, the College of Rural Development (CRD) at Can Tho University (CTU) welcomed a delegation from the School for International Training (SIT-United States of America), led by Dr. Duong Van Thanh, along with 10 American students for a short-term study program on agriculture and sustainable rural development in Hau Giang province. During the program, the SIT students were supported by Dr. Le Thanh Son, Pro-Vice Dean of the CRD; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Can, Former Dean of the CRD; and the teaching staff and students of the CRD.

In the program, the SIT delegation was introduced to the college’s teaching, scientific research, and community development activities. Additionally, they studied topics related to sustainable agriculture and rural development in the Mekong Delta, such as participating in vegetable cultivation practices, installing biogas systems to reduce environmental pollution from livestock activities, and learning about the community development support activities carried out by the CRD.

The SIT students' short-term study and exchange program was not only an opportunity to showcase CTU's strengths in agriculture and sustainable rural development, but also contributed to raising students' awareness of environmental protection and natural resource conservation. Moreover, the program served as a bridge to introduce Vietnamese life and culture, enhancing the friendship between CTU and universities around the world.
