On April 21st, 2023, Can Tho University (CTU) was honored to welcome Mr. Thomas Gass, Ambassador of Switzerland to Vietnam, and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) to discuss cooperation opportunities between CTU and its Swiss partners.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, CTU’s Rector, sent a warm welcome to the delegates and briefly introduced CTU’s activities and cooperation relationship between the University and its partners.

Besides, the SDMD 2045 Forum (Sustainable Development of the Mekong Delta - Vision 2045) was introduced. Accordingly, SDMD 2045 was founded and hosted by Can Tho University to integrate national and international collaborative research and development activities to contribute to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region and beyond with a vision to the year 2045. Then, Swiss partners’ strong support and participation in the Forum’s activities are welcomed.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Thomas Gass expressed his pleasure to visit the University, discussed, and proposed cooperation activities between the University and Swiss educational institutions in the near future. Besides, the Ambassador expressed his interest in CTU’s actions that contribute to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta, specifically the SDMD 2045 Forum.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan expressed his appreciation for the support of the Swiss Embassy in the role of a bridge between CTU and its Swiss partners. The Rector hoped that the cooperation activities between CTU and Swiss partners would be determined and promoted in the coming time.
