On April 16th, 2018, at the Administration Building, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University (CTU) welcomed Mr. Vincent Floreani, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City, to discuss several issues related to teaching French language and developing training programs, etc. at CTU.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of CTU, sent a warm greeting to the delegation of French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh to CTU, at the same time, shared information about the University and close relationship and cooperation between CTU French Consulate General in particular and the partners from France in general. Of the approximately 50,000 students studying at CTU, about 1,700 students are taking programs related to French, such as French Education and French studies. The University has about 40 French lecturers. In addition, some faculties at College of Information Technology and Communication, School of Law have graduated from French universities. In particular, the master program in Data Mining is a joint training program between CTU and University of Nantes.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vincent Floreani, French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, sent his thanks for the warm welcome and expressed his pleasure to visit CTU, a key university in Vietnam. He also thanked CTU for the support in strengthening the relationship between the two sides. In the coming time, French Consul General proposed to strengthen cooperation between CTU and French universities, exchange of staff and students, to create more opportunities to study in France for staff and students, to develop French teaching at CTU and to strengthen the activities of "French Space" at CTU.
