The U.S. News & World Report (USA) has recently announced the results of its Best Global Universities Rankings for the 2025–2026 period, evaluating 2,250 higher education institutions from 105 countries and territories. Among these, eight Vietnamese universities have been ranked. Can Tho University (CTU) secures its place, ranking #2,087 globally, #904 in Asia, and 8th among Vietnamese universities.
This result marks the second consecutive year that CTU has been ranked by U.S. News—one of the most prestigious global university ranking systems, alongside the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings. Being listed in both U.S. News and QS rankings reflects international recognition of CTU’s research capacity and academic excellence, affirming its pivotal role in Vietnam’s higher education system, especially its leading role in the Mekong Delta region.

To qualify for the U.S. News rankings, institutions must have produced at least 1,250 scholarly publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database during the five-year period from 2019 to 2023. The ranking methodology is based on 13 performance indicators, focusing primarily on global research reputation (from international surveys) and research productivity and quality (based on publications, citations, and academic impact). All data are analyzed and provided by Clarivate Analytics, the owner of WoS and the Journal Citation Reports (JCR)—two of the world’s most reputable academic databases.

CTU remains steadfast in its mission to harness its strengths, foster continuous innovation and development, and affirm its position as a leading hub for education, research, and technology transfer, playing a vital role in the nation’s sustainable development and its integration into the global higher education landscape.
