Recently, four students from the College of Rural Development, Can Tho University (CTU), participated in the 19th ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum and the 9th ASEAN+3 Forum (AYCF) at the University of Brunei Darussalam from June 23rd to 28th, 2024. This year, the forum was organized with the theme "Futuring Together towards Preserving Art and Culture" bringing nearly 150 students and faculty from 29 universities in 10 ASEAN countries and three ASEAN+3 partner countries (Japan, China, South Korea). Vietnam was represented by three universities: CTU; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The Vietnamese’s delegation consisted of representatives from CTU, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

At the forum, CTU’s students participated in activities to introduce, exchange, and learn about the cultures of regional countries, such as performing cultural and artistic programs, participating in cultural booths, and experiencing traditional musical instruments and costumes. Additionally, the program included workshops on experiencing Brunei's traditional arts and culture, as well as visits to the Royal Regalia Museum and other unique cultural tourist spots. Throughout the program, CTU’s students actively engaged in activities, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnamese students, the country, and its people to universities in the region.

The 19th ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum and the 9th ASEAN+3 Forum in Brunei was not only an important event demonstrating the strong commitment of the younger generation to preserving and promoting regional cultural identities but also a significant step in fostering cultural exchange and cooperation among ASEAN countries.

The Rector of the University of Brunei Darussalam presented a commemorative plaque to the CTU’s delegation.

The forum left many deep impressions, promising to be a foundation for sustainable cultural cooperation among participating countries in the future, contributing to building an increasingly cohesive and developed ASEAN community. Through this forum, CTU’s students had the opportunity to experience and learn valuable knowledge, thereby accumulating more experience in intercultural communication, while proudly spreading the image and culture of Vietnam to countries in the region.

The ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum and ASEAN+3 is an annual activity organized by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) in collaboration with member universities on a rotating host basis, aiming to enhance friendship and cooperation among universities through a deep understanding of the cultures of 10 ASIAN countries and 3 partner countries (China, Japan, South Korea). The forum gathers young artistic talents to showcase the diverse beauty of the arts and cultures of the nations, while preserving the traditional beauty of the ASEAN+3 community. In 2025, the 20th ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum and the 10th ASEAN+3 Forum are scheduled to be held at Chulalongkorn University (Thailand).
