Overview of the program at Turtle Hall

Looking back at 45 years of establishment

The field of Economics began being taught in the academic year 1966 - 1967 at CTU by the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences (Economics). The Agricultural Economics Department at the College of Agriculture was established, led by Nguyen Viet Truong.

After 1975, the Economics Department was formed under the Faculty of Agriculture. In 1977, CTU dissolved the Faculty of Agriculture and established the Agricultural Economics Department under CTU, led by Nguyen Thai Luan.

On July 30th, 1979, the Faculty of Agricultural Economics was established by the Ministry of Higher Education and Professional Training of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, based on the Agricultural Economics Department. On October 12th, 1979, CTU established the Faculty of Economics and admitted the first cohort in Agricultural Economics (course 5).

In the academic year 1986 - 1987, in addition to Agricultural Economics, the Faculty of Economics collaborated with the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City to offer programs in Accounting, Finance, and Commerce. In 1995, to meet the demands of Vietnam's economic reform, the Faculty of Economics was renamed the Faculty of Economics - Business Administration.

In the trend of international educational integration and the diverse scale of training, CTU renamed the Faculty of Economics - Business Administration to the Faculty of Economics. On September 29th, 2022, the Faculty of Economics was renamed the School of Economics to reflect its scale, field, level, and quality of training.
