Signing MoU with National Pin Tung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan

On March 21st, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Vice Rector of Can Tho University (CTU) and leaders of CTU’s units have welcomed and worked with the delegation of National Pin Tung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), Taiwan, led by Prof. Dr. Cheng Hsien Tai, President.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Vice Rector of CTU sent a warm greeting to NPUST’s delegation and shared some information about CTU and its recent activities. As a human resource training center for the region, and one of the nation’s key universities, located in the Mekong Delta region, CTU recognizes its important roles and responsibilities in meeting the needs of the high quality labor resources for the development of the Mekong Delta in particular and the country in general. Towards the strategic development in the future, CTU intensifies training high quality programs and graduate programs. Therefore, it aims to promote cooperation with partner universities around the world in developing and improving the quality of training programs.

At present, NPUST has 06 colleges, 35 departments and graduate institutes, and 03 centers, with more than 600 staff members and nearly 11,500 students. NPUST is training over 700 foreign students, in which 26 Vietnamese students are studying there.


After discussing the opportunities for cooperation, the two universities have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate the specific cooperation activities in the coming time, such as development of mutually beneficial academic and training programs; exchange of students for purpose of studying; exchange of staff for purposes of teaching, research; joint research; transfer of technology; exchange of documentation, research materials; development of dual degree program.


Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh believed that along with its long history since 1924 and strengths in the fields of tropical agriculture, green engineering, biotechnology, etc, the collaboration between CTU and NPUST would achieve great success, contributing to the overall development of the two universities.
