Discussion on Cooperation with National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan

On March 20th, 2017, leader representatives of the units of Can Tho University (CTU) including College of Agriculture and Applied Biology, College of Engineering Technology, College of Natural Sciences, Biotechnology Research and Development Institute, and International Relations Department welcomed and worked with the delegation of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan.

NCKU was founded in 1931. It is renowned for engineering, technology, architectural design and medical teaching and research. NCKU is one of Taiwan’s leading integrated research universities, and composes of 9 colleges (Liberal Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Planning and Design, Management, Medicine, Social Sciences, Bioscience and Biotechnology). Currently, It offers 45 undergraduate, 78 master’s and 55 doctoral programs. There are more than 3,000 staff members and about 30,000 students, in which international students account for over 700. Since 1998, more than 400 Vietnamese students have graduated from NCKU.


At the meeting, the two sides exchanged information of the units, and suggested the possibilities of cooperation in training, exchange of staff, students, and joint scientific research, etc. A signing of memorandum of understanding between the two universities was also suggested  to materialize future cooperation activities.

On this occasion, the professors of NCKU introduced the opportunities to experience study in Taiwan, and directly interview the candidates for master’s and doctoral programs at this University.
