On November 24, 2024, Can Tho University (CTU) organized the opening ceremony of training programs for human resource development in Soc Trang Province and officially received facilities in preparation for establishing its Soc Trang campus. The event was attended by Ho Thi Cam Dao - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province; representatives from the Provincial People's Committee, City Party Committee, and various local departments. At CTU’s side were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh - Rector, and representatives from relevant units.

CTU officially launched postgraduate training programs in three fields for Soc Trang Province: Information Technology; Crop Science with a specialization in Smart Agricultural Engineering; and Agricultural Systems with a specialization in Climate Change and Sustainable Tropical Agriculture. These programs will run from November 30, 2024, to November 30, 2026. Additionally, CTU is offering various professional training and skill development courses, including the "Professional Shrimp Farmer" program under the Mekong Shrimp Innovation Project (MAIC), conducted from November 22 to November 24, 2024; a training course on "Applying Information Technology in English Teaching" for managers and English teachers under the National Foreign Languages Project, scheduled from November 24 to November 30, 2024; and a training course on "Climate Skills" as part of the Climate Skills Program.

Moreover, this event affirms CTU’s steadfast commitment to supporting the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region in general and Soc Trang Province in particular. This occasion is even more significant as CTU officially receives the facilities and related assets, marking a critical legal milestone in establishing the Soc Trang Campus. CTU is committed to managing and utilizing these assets in compliance with regulations and for their intended purposes.” emphasized Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh.

In the ceremony, Mr. Lam Hoang Nghiep - Vice Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee, shared: “The number of students from Soc Trang province at CTU has consistently increased. In 2024, over 1,100 students from Soc Trang were admitted to CTU. The establishment of CTU’s Soc Trang campus will provide more favorable conditions for students in the province to pursue their studies. It also serves as a bridge, bringing high-quality training programs closer to the people of Soc Trang. Additionally, it opens up extensive opportunities for collaboration across various fields, from scientific research and technology transfer to the development of a skilled workforce, helping meet the province’s development goals.”
