Can Tho University Welcomes the Ambassador of Israel to Vietnam

On March 25, 2025, Can Tho University (CTU) welcomed H.E. Mr. Yaron Mayer - Ambassador of Israel to Vietnam. Attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh - Rector of CTU, along with representatives from relevant units.

At the meeting, CTU provided an overview of its history, development, and strategic directions for the future, particularly highlighting past collaborations between CTU and Israel.

In his welcoming remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh emphasized that the cooperation programs between Israel and CTU—particularly in faculty training and student exchange—have provided lecturers and students with valuable experience in modern and high-tech agricultural practices from Israel. This knowledge has significantly contributed to enhancing expertise and benefiting the overall development of the Mekong Delta region. The Rector of CTU also stated that Ambassador Mayer’s visit further reinforces the strong friendship and collaboration between CTU and Israel. CTU hopes to implement more practical and effective cooperation programs in education, research, and technology transfer. CTU is also ready to expand joint initiatives with Israeli organizations in sustainable agriculture and water management.

During his first visit to CTU, H.E. Mr. Yaron Mayer emphasized Israel's high regard for its cooperative relationship with Vietnam in general and CTU in particular. The Ambassador of Israel to Vietnam expressed his hope that in the future, both sides will strengthen their collaboration in education, particularly in sharing expertise in high-tech agriculture, water resource management, aquaculture, and technology transfer.

The two sides discussed potential areas for collaboration, including:

(1) Strengthening Academic Cooperation: Expanding student and faculty exchange programs, scholarships, and joint research projects between CTU and Israeli universities.

(2) Agricultural Collaboration and Innovation: Strengthening participation in Israeli Agricultural Internship Programs, applying Israeli agricultural technologies to the Mekong Delta, particularly in irrigation, smart farming, and post-harvest management.

(3) Water Resource Management and Climate Change Adaptation: Sharing expertise in water conservation projects to address climate challenges affecting the Mekong Delta and developing joint initiatives for sustainable aquaculture.

(4) Technology and Startup Ecosystem: Promoting technology transfer and research collaboration in renewable energy and artificial intelligence.

(5) Cultural and Educational Exchange: Organizing cultural exchange events such as “Israel Culture Day” and language and cultural training programs for CTU students interested in studying or working in Israel.

With its strengths in multidisciplinary education and as a leading research and technology transfer center in the Mekong Delta region, CTU has been a trusted partner for many countries, institutions, and organizations both regionally and globally. This visit further solidifies the strong partnership between CTU and Israel while also opening up new opportunities for collaboration in education, training quality enhancement, scientific research, and technology transfer, contributing to sustainable development and shared prosperity in the region and beyond.
