Undergraduate On July 29, 2026, Can Tho University (CTU) was honored to welcome The Honourable Dr. Anne Aly MP – Member of Parliament, Minister for International Development, Minister for Small Business, and Minister for Multicultural Affairs of Australia – to attend the official opening ceremony of the Australia Corner at the Research Laboratory Complex (RLC). The program was attended by Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen – Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee. Representing CTU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh – President; Dr. Le Van Lam – Vice President; together with leaders of affiliated academic and administrative units, CTU alumni who had studied in Australia, and faculty members and students.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh expressed his pleasure in welcoming The Honourable Dr. Anne Aly MP and the Australian delegation to CTU. He emphasized that Australia has long been one of CTU's key partners, with significant achievements in education, scientific research, innovation, and human resource development. The President of CTU further noted that the launch of the Australia Corner not only marks a new milestone in the partnership between the two sides but also provides a dedicated space for learning, networking, and academic exchange, thereby creating greater opportunities for international collaboration among faculty members, students, and researchers in the years to come.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Honourable Dr. Anne Aly MP expressed her appreciation for the strong and enduring partnership between the Governments of Vietnam and Australia. She also commended the fruitful cooperation between Can Tho University and Australian universities, research institutes, organizations, and enterprises. She emphasized that these collaborative initiatives have generated research outcomes and practical solutions to address key challenges facing the Mekong Delta, including climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and saltwater intrusion, thereby improving local livelihoods and supporting sustainable development. Dr. Anne Aly further noted that the Australia Corner would serve as a hub for knowledge exchange, connecting researchers, academics, students, and partners from both countries. She expressed her confidence that the space will facilitate the translation of research outcomes into practical applications while creating new opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and sustainable development.

The Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee emphasized that the establishment of the Australia Corner at CTU represents a meaningful milestone, fostering academic connectivity, promoting cultural exchange, and strengthening collaboration among Can Tho City, CTU, and Australian partners. He expressed his expectation that the partnership between Australia and CTU would continue to expand, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources and the sustainable growth of the region. The Chairman also reaffirmed Can Tho City's commitment to providing favorable conditions for further deepening cooperation and ensuring that future collaborative initiatives deliver practical, long-term benefits for all parties.

Over the years, Australia has become one of CTU's key partners in education, scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development. To date, CTU has established partnerships with 24 Australian universities and organizations, signed 38 cooperation agreements, and implemented 34 joint projects focusing on climate change adaptation, water resources management, sustainable agriculture, and capacity building.
Established under the Australian Government's development assistance program, the Australia Corner has been launched at CTU as a dedicated space for knowledge sharing, learning, and collaboration on climate change adaptation in the Mekong Delta. The Australia Corner will serve as a hub connecting students, academics, researchers, policymakers, local communities, and the private sector, promoting innovative solutions while strengthening cooperation in education, research, and knowledge transfer. The establishment of the Australia Corner not only further demonstrates the effective partnership between the Australian Government and CTU but also highlights the vital role of research, innovation, and strategic partnerships in building a sustainable, adaptive, and climate-resilient Mekong Delta.
