From July 12 to 19, 2026, students from the College of Engineering and the College of Natural Sciences - Can Tho University (CTU) participated in the International Internship Program 2026 at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (Taiwan). The program provided students with opportunities to gain first-hand exposure to advanced education, research, and technology environments, enabling them to broaden their professional knowledge, strengthen their research capabilities, and gradually shape the mindset for working in international environments.
A key highlight of the program was the combination of in-depth theoretical learning, hands-on training in advanced laboratories, and first-hand exposure to leading research institutions in materials and semiconductor technologies. As part of the program, CTU students participated in two academic tracks: Advanced Materials Technologies and Introduction to Semiconductor and Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Processing Technologies. While the Advanced Materials Technologies track provided in-depth knowledge through thematic sessions and laboratory practice, the Semiconductor and MEMS Processing Technologies track introduced students to semiconductor fabrication processes and MEMS technologies, while giving them the opportunity to take part directly in chip fabrication processes in a cleanroom environment.

In particular, through visits to the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), students gained first-hand insights into research environments, explored advanced technologies, and learned how scientific research is connected with technological development. These experiences enabled students to extend their learning beyond lectures through observation, practice, and real-world research exposure.

Alongside the academic activities, CTU students also participated in cultural exchange programs with international students, as well as visits and cultural exploration activities in Taiwan. From interactions in academic settings to everyday communication, these activities helped students broaden their understanding of different cultures, strengthen their communication and teamwork skills, and enhance their ability to adapt to an international environment.

Through a week of learning and practical exposure, students not only gained access to advanced knowledge and technologies in materials, semiconductors, and MEMS, but also had the opportunity to observe first-hand how knowledge is translated into research, technology, and practical applications. As the semiconductor industry is increasingly recognized as a strategic technology sector, the learning, hands-on training, and institutional visits in Taiwan enabled students to bridge theory and practice, strengthen their professional foundations and innovative thinking, and broaden their academic, research, and career perspectives in high-tech fields.
The participation of CTU students in the International Internship Program 2026 at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University further affirmed the University's commitment to internationalizing education, with international connections serving as an important avenue for expanding students' learning and development opportunities. Beyond providing opportunities for overseas learning, the program placed students in a multicultural environment where they could engage with peers, build international networks, and strengthen their ability to adapt to the demands of global learning, research, and professional environments. Through such international exchange and internship opportunities, CTU continues to nurture a generation of proactive and confident students with strong professional capabilities and international competencies, prepared to contribute to key high-tech fields, while further strengthening the University's connections with international education and research partners.
