On June 8, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh - President of Can Tho University, welcomed and held a working session with Prof. Burn J. Lin - Dean of the College of Semiconductor Research at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU - Taiwan), and Director of the NTHU-TSMC Research Center. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Hsien Wen Chu - Executive Director of the Chen-Yung Memorial Foundation; Dr. Le Van Lam - Vice President of Can Tho University; and representatives of relevant units.

Against the backdrop of Vietnam’s growing emphasis on the development of strategic and emerging technologies, the parties shared their vision and discussed their respective roles in training high-quality human resources for the region. They also explored the possibility of establishing an official partnership between Can Tho University and National Tsing Hua University, aiming to develop long-term collaborative programs in education, research, and academic exchange. Particular emphasis was placed on student exchange programs, credit transfer initiatives, and strengthening connections among faculty members in the field of semiconductor technology.

Building on the orientations discussed during the meeting, Can Tho University, National Tsing Hua University, and the Chen-Yung Memorial Foundation expressed their expectation of gradually developing substantive collaborative initiatives. These efforts are expected to contribute to the establishment of a training and research ecosystem in semiconductor technology that responds to regional development demands and global technological trends. Such cooperation would create opportunities for students to gain access to international knowledge and expertise while strengthening the University’s educational and research capacity, thereby supporting the development of high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta and Vietnam in the years ahead.
