Undergraduate As part of his working visit to Australia, on August 11, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh - President of Can Tho University (CTU), visited the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to discuss areas of cooperation and sign a cooperation agreement. The meeting provided an opportunity for the two universities to review their ongoing collaboration and discuss directions for further strengthening their partnership in education, research, and high-quality human resource development, with a focus on meaningful initiatives that create practical value for students, faculty members, and the wider community.
A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a cooperation agreement on PhD co-supervision and credit transfer between CTU and UTS. The agreement provides CTU doctoral candidates with opportunities to study and conduct research in an international academic environment and pursue a doctoral degree at UTS. It also facilitates the recognition, accumulation, and transfer of academic credits during their studies, while providing a foundation for the two universities to share their respective strengths and jointly identify directions for collaboration in strategic technology fields in the years ahead. Through this partnership, cooperation between CTU and UTS is evolving from connection toward co-creation, and from cooperation agreements toward deeper, more effective initiatives that generate practical and long-term value for education.

The two universities also discussed directions for strengthening cooperation in high-quality human resource development, including the potential co-development of undergraduate degree programs. By connecting CTU’s educational strengths with UTS’s international expertise and resources, the partnership can open up new approaches to teaching and learning while fostering students’ capabilities to respond to the evolving demands of the labor market and rapid advances in science and technology.
Beyond education and training, CTU and UTS discussed potential research collaboration in climate change adaptation technologies in the Mekong Delta, focusing on the region’s increasingly pressing challenges, including sea-level rise, saltwater intrusion, changes in natural resources, and the need for sustainable development. The two sides also exchanged views on the development of an Australia Corner at CTU as an open academic and networking space where faculty members and students can access information on educational programs, scholarships, academic exchange, research opportunities, and professional development, while also creating a platform for interaction, knowledge sharing, and community engagement.
