On April 21, 2025, Can Tho University (CTU) welcomed Prof. Kweon Jin Hwe – President of Gyeongsang National University (South Korea), along with his delegation. Representing CTU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh – Rector; Dr. Le Van Lam – Vice Rector; and representatives from various units.
The meeting took place at the CTU’s Administration Building
During the meeting, CTU and its Korean counterpart expressed their commitment to further strengthening the bilateral partnership that has been sustainably developed over the years. Both institutions look forward to jointly implementing research and training projects, facilitating student and faculty exchanges, and developing collaborative programs in key areas including: Agriculture, Information Technology, Natural Sciences, Engineering, and Education.

In his welcome remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh provided a brief overview of the key achievements of CTU over its 59 years of establishment and development. Rector emphasized CTU’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international partners to enhance the quality of education, research, technology transfer, and community service - contributing to elevating CTU’s position both regionally and globally.

During his first visit to CTU, Prof. Kweon Jin Hwe expressed his belief that the meeting would pave the way for a strengthened partnership between the two institutions - one that would bring meaningful benefits to both faculty and students, and contribute to the sustainable development of both countries. The President of Gyeongsang National University also expressed a strong interest in collaborating with CTU in the fields of agriculture and biotechnology, as well as in supporting the training of faculty in health sciences.
Delegates shared and discussed in the meeting
As part of the working session, CTU and Gyeongsang National University signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to promote various academic initiatives, such as: credit transfer programs, the organization of international conferences, and cultural exchange activities for both undergraduate and graduate learners.

The working session between CTU and Gyeongsang National University not only reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between the two reputable institutions but also opened up numerous practical opportunities for collaboration in training, research, and knowledge transfer. With an orientation toward internationalization, CTU believes that the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) will pave the way for future bilateral cooperation. These initiatives are expected to generate long-term benefits for both sides and contribute positively to the development of higher education in Vietnam and South Korea in the new era.
