On April 25, 2025, Can Tho University (CTU) held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Science and Technology (UST - South Korea), marking a new milestone in the University’s strategy to expand international cooperation with Korean partners.

The ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh – Rector of CTU; Dr. Le Van Lam – Vice Rector; and representatives from relevant units. The delegation from UST was led by Prof. Dr. Kang Dae Im – President.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh expressed his hope that the signing of the cooperation agreement would open up significant opportunities to promote research and training activities, particularly in high-technology fields
At the signing ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh stated that CTU, founded in 1966 in the heart of the Mekong Delta, is entrusted with the mission of providing high-quality human resource training, conducting scientific research, and facilitating technology transfer to contribute to the socio-economic development of the region. CTU has established long-standing cooperative relations with Korean partners, having signed 43 memoranda of understanding with corporations and higher education institutions from Korea. CTU is honored to officially establish this partnership through ceremony, marking a significant milestone and paving the way for expanded collaboration in research and education, particularly in high-technology fields.

During his first visit to and collaboration with CTU, Prof. Dr. Kang Dae Im happily shared: "Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, South Korea and Vietnam have had the closest ties in terms of economy, culture, and more recently, science and technology. The President of UST also expressed his hope that today's signing ceremony would mark the beginning of even stronger cooperation between the two universities, and he wished for both sides to quickly implement specific and practical cooperative efforts, bringing lasting benefits to the students and faculty of both institutions.

During the signing, both parties agreed on potential cooperation programs in key areas of mutual strength, notably: faculty and student exchanges; sharing of academic materials and scientific publications; implementation of research activities and international conferences. Representatives from both institutions expressed their expectations that these directions would be effectively implemented, thereby contributing to the improvement of training, scientific research, and the expansion of international learning and exchange opportunities for faculty and students. This cooperation serves as a crucial foundation for fostering a sustainable partnership, aiming at comprehensive and long-term development between the two institutions.

CTU, as a key national higher education institution in the Mekong Delta region, continuously strives to enhance the quality of its research and advanced training. CTU believes that this cooperation agreement will contribute to improving the quality of education and research, and creating more opportunities for learning and development for faculty and students in the future.
