At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, the Minister of Education and Training, awarded the Decision to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh and delivered a congratulatory speech to CTU and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh. The Minister affirmed that “CTU is the most important university in the Mekong Delta in the past, present and future”. Regarding the development vision of the Education sector, the University is believed to promote, make efforts, and strive to meet the expectations of the Party, State, and people in the Mekong Delta region. In the planning of higher education institutions across the country, CTU is defined to become a regional university in the Mekong Delta region. The Minister required that the new Rector together with CTU’s people continue to reform the CTU to a new model in accordance with Vietnam’s Law on Higher Education and develop the University’s strengths. On this occasion, the Minister recognized and praised the contributions of Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, former Rector of CTU, to the development of the University in particular and the Education sector in general.

Through 58 years of its establishment and growth, CTU has continuously obtained achievements in all aspects. At present, CTU has over 1,800 staff members, including 21 professors, 179 associate professors, about 600 PhDs, and 700 masters. For more than half a century, CTU has trained over 330 PhDs; 13,700 masters, and 200,000 bachelors. Those are high-quality human resources that effectively serve the development of the Mekong Delta region in particular and the whole country in general. CTU focuses on its mission of training, research, technology transfer, and developing a prosperous society.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Ministry and acknowledged the assigned tasks of the Minister. CTU commits to constantly strive and make efforts for its sustainable development to be worthy of the Party, State, and people’s trust and expectation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh started teaching at the College of Engineering and Technology (from 1998 to 2007), became the Head of a Department belonging to the College of Engineering and Technology (from 2007 to 2009), the Vice-Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology (from 2010 to 2012), the Vice-Rector of CTU from June 2012 to December 2023. Since November 2015, as the role of the Director of the ODA Project Management Unit of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh made outstanding contributions to the success of the CTU Improvement Project using ODA loans from the Japanese Government.

Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh in his new position as CTU’s Rector, together with the University’s leadership, continues to promote the University’s resources and strengths, overcome difficulties, and cope with challenges to affirm its position as one of the national leading centers for training, scientific research, and transfer technology.
