On November 18, 2024, Can Tho University (CTU) hosted a meeting with Mr. Nakashima Yusuke, the Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam. The delegation was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Rector of CTU; Dr. Le Van Lam, Vice-Rector; and representatives from relevant units.

During the meeting, both parties discussed and outlined strategies to enhance cooperation and implement various academic programs and research initiatives for students and teaching staff, particularly in the field of foreign languages. Additionally, CTU expressed its desire for the Japanese Embassy to facilitate connections and collaborate on establishing Japanese language training programs at the university. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for learning Japanese in the Mekong Delta region, thereby contributing to the training of high-quality human resources for the area.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh emphasized that, over 58 years of establishment and development, CTU has received significant support from Japan through infrastructure enhancement projects and academic programs. These contributions have helped improve the quality of teaching, learning, and research among students and faculty. CTU hopes to continue strengthening its relationship with the Japanese Embassy through various partnership programs, contributing to mutual development and creating new values while promoting cultural exchange and experience sharing between the two countries.

Mr. Nakashima Yusuke expressed his admiration for CTU's remarkable achievements over 58 years, particularly in agriculture and aquaculture. He highlighted his commitment to maximizing opportunities for CTU students to study and work in Japan and to supporting CTU in teaching Japanese at all levels.
Currently, the governments of Vietnam and Japan have agreed to strengthen training partnerships between universities in both countries. This agreement presents a favorable opportunity for CTU to expand cooperation programs and enhance the quality of education and research. Looking ahead, CTU plans to implement additional bilateral training programs, providing students with access to advanced educational opportunities from Japan. Furthermore, international scientific workshops and faculty and student exchanges between the two sides will be organized more frequently to promote mutual development.
