On March 9th-10th, 2019, the 22nd Francophonie Festival in the Mekong Delta, which took place in Can Tho City, was co-organized by Can Tho University (CTU) and Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations. This is the largest annual meeting of the Francophonie community in the Mekong Delta region on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the International Francophonie Day (March 20, 1970).

Held annually in the Mekong Delta, the 22nd Francophonie Festival takes place in Can Tho City, the regional capital, which preserves and preserves many French cultural relics such as Chau. Van Liem High School, Binh Thuy ancient house with French architecture.
At this event of honoring French language, various activities were organized including seminar on French-speaking jobs, exhibition of traditional crafts and tourism products of localities in the Mekong Delta, presentation contest on local handicraft products, French music show, Vietnamese and French poetry recitation, quiz about French language, French culture,etc.

Speaking at the Festival, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of CTU expressed his pleasure and honor when CTU contributed to the spread of the Francophonie International Day. With a strong and dynamic French-speaking staff, CTU is aware of its role and responsibility in bridging localities with French partners to enhance cultural exchange, education and economy activities. Every year, the University always has many diverse French language-related activities contributing to the development of the University, localities as well as the French-speaking community.
On this occasion, CTU's Rector sent sincere thanks to French-language partners, localities and enterprises supporting CTU in implementing meaningful French language-related activities in the Mekong Delta region. CTU is committed to maintaining and developing French-language teaching, willing to cooperate with partners in French-language projects in Vietnam. Thereby, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan hoped that French-language and local partners and businesses to continue accompanying CTU to consolidate and develop French-teaching and learning activities in the region, promoting the development of the Francophonie community.
