Wishing to contribute effectively to the training of high quality human resources, meeting the needs of economic, cultural and social development and integration of the Mekong Delta region in the context of globalization, College of Agriculture and Applied Biology (CAAB), Can Tho University (CTU) develops high quality training program, i.e., Food Technology.
On May 11th, 2017, CAAB held a stakeholder consultation workshop on this training program with the attendance of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector; Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Vice Rector; leader representatives of CTU’s units; scientists, employers, faculties, alumni, and students majored in Food Technology.

The aim of high quality program of Food Technology is to train engineers with deep professional knowledge and scientific knowledge of technology, capabilities of meeting the needs of economic development and integration of the Mekong Delta. The curriculum designed in harmony between theory and practice helps students master knowledge, good manipulation and application skills in reality. Then, students have the ability to control, operate modern production equipment chains, and handle the technical situations in food processing. Engineers of high quality Food Technology are capable of continuing national and international postgraduate training programs in Food Technology.
On the basis of the contents of objectives, entry requirements, outcomes and curriculum structure, the participants confirmed the need to open this high quality program and contributed ideas to completing the project for conducting the program.
In 2016, the University has recruited students for two high quality programs including International Business and Information Technology. Unlike the ordinary training program, CTU’s high quality training programs are designed based on advanced training programs of advanced countries. The linkages between the University and the partner enterprises are enclosed during training process. Taking the high quality study programs with more than 60% of the modules taught in English, students are facilitated to learn, practice and research in academic environment with good facilities, experienced faculty members, and opportunities to visit, exchange and study abroad. Graduates have the capacity to pursue postgraduate studies at advanced educational institution, along with the advantages to join competitive labor market at home and abroad.
