School of Economics, Can Tho University Hosted the 6th International Conference on “Sustainable Development in Economics, Business, and Finance”

On December 12, 2024, the School of Economics, Can Tho University (CTU), hosted the 6th International Conference on “Sustainable Development in Economics, Business, and Finance.” This year, the conference was co-organized by the School of Economics in collaboration with seven universities, including Hue University of Economics, Tay Nguyen University, the University of Economics and Business Administration (Thai Nguyen University), Bac Lieu University, Foreign Trade University - Campus 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (Malaysia), and Sofia University (Bulgaria).

 

 The Conference Took Place at School of Economics, CTU

The conference was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai - Vice Rector of CTU; representatives of the leadership from the School of Economics; and leaders from relevant CTU units. Additionally, more than 150 delegates representing the seven co-organizing universities and institutions from New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, China, and Vietnam attended the event. Representatives from departments and agencies in Can Tho City also participated. Notably, the conference attracted scientists, experts, and students who joined virtually via Zoom.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Khuong Ninh, Rector of the School of Economics, emphasized that the conference has continuously expanded in scale and quality, becoming a prestigious academic platform for scholars, experts, and universities to exchange knowledge, share research findings, and discuss collaborative initiatives. He noted that the conference also lays a foundation for future international cooperation in multidisciplinary research.

During the event, Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai underscored, “Located in the center of the Mekong Delta, CTU was established by the Mekong Delta and for the Mekong Delta. For 58 years of development, we have tried our best for the mission of training human resources, scientific research, and community services. As an inter-disciplinary university with 16 schools and colleges, the School of Economics is the strongest and the most dynamic college in capacities and activities. We do believe that with over 20 presentations and active discussions, brings our conference the latest and significant information and research findings in the fields of sustainable development in economics, business, and finance; that may inspire new ideas and research for the time coming.”

The conference featured diverse presentations on innovative solutions for the digital economy and smart agricultural development, addressing current global challenges and trends in digital transformation. Discussions highlighted the importance of bridging theory and practice. In four parallel sessions, experts and researchers from domestic and international universities shared research findings and proposed practical solutions for promoting sustainable growth across regions.

 Prof. Ohara Moriki from the Faculty of Economics, Ryukoku University (Japan), presented online on “Trusts that Promote the Adoption of Soil Diagnostics Fertilization Technology by Smallholders in Hunan Province, China”

Overview of Parallel Session 1

Parallel Session 1 focused on attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) with sustainable development strategies in Vietnam, developing green logistics in Thai Nguyen Province, and exploring the theoretical relationship between corporate sustainability, firm performance, and stakeholder behavior.

Overview of Parallel Session 2

Parallel Session 2 addressed the impact of economic policies on sustainable development reports, the effectiveness of the “Four-Factor Carhart Model” in Vietnam’s stock market, and the interplay between agricultural value-added, financial development, natural resources, and carbon emissions.

Overview of Parallel Session 3

Parallel Session 3 discussed how green innovation affects corporate value in Vietnam, factors influencing cloud accounting adoption among SMEs in Hue, and the interaction between liquidity creation, capital, and banking efficiency in Southeast Asia.

Overview of Parallel Session 4

Parallel Session 4 explored the effects of globalization on business performance, the role of packaging in consumer engagement, the influence of corporate governance mechanisms on alternative performance measures, and the impact of AI knowledge on employee performance in Vietnamese SMEs.

The conference was an opportunity for knowledge exchange and learning and a platform for forging new partnerships among universities, research organizations, and institutions. The success of the 6th International Conference on “Sustainable Growth in Economics, Business, and Finance” once again reaffirmed the pioneering role of the School of Economics, CTU, in fostering knowledge exchange and promoting sustainable development in economics, business, and finance at both regional and global levels.
