On May 28th, 2024, Can Tho University (CTU), in collaboration with the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), held the Opening Session of the 425th AUN-QA programme assessment. This is the second AUN-QA programme assessment at the university in 2024, taking place from May 28th to 30th, 2024, covering four training programs: Tourism and Hospitality Management, Aquatic Products Processing Technology, Information Systems (undergraduate level), and Computer Science (master’s level).

Attending the Opening Session from the AUN-QA Assessment Team were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharul Tazrajiman Hj Tajuddin, Chief Assessor, and Lead Assessors: Prof. Dr. Suzeini Binti Abd Halim, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuanthip Kamolvarin, and Prof. Dr. Riza Atiq Abdullah bin O.K. Rahmat, along with other members of the AUN-QA Assessment Team. From CTU, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung, Vice Rector; Dr. Phan Huy Hung, Director of the Quality Management Center; and representatives from relevant units and those with training programs being assessed.

CTU always considers accreditation and quality assurance as one of the university's key tasks. In 2009, CTU was recognized by the National Council for Education Quality Accreditation for meeting educational institution quality standards. In 2013, along with two national universities, CTU became an official member of the AUN-QA. In 2018, CTU received a Certificate of Institutional Accreditation from the Ministry of Education and Training (2018 - 2023). On January 12th, 2024, CTU achieved a Certificate of Institutional Accreditation 2nd cycle (2023 - 2028).

Speaking at the Opening Session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung warmly welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharul Tazrajiman Hj Tajuddin and the AUN-QA Assessment Team for the 425th programme assessment. He shared that CTU has been a member of AUN since 2013. CTU’s accreditation and quality assessment activities serve as a strong commitment to the sustainable development of high-quality human resource training, enhancing the university’s position and that of the AUN-QA. On this occasion, CTU expressed sincere thanks to the members of the AUN-QA Assessment Team for their contributions to the quality assurance work. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung requested that the units with training programs being assessed make every effort to support the AUN-QA Assessment Team to complete their work conveniently.

On behalf of the AUN-QA Assessment Team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharul Tazrajiman Hj Tajuddin shared that the cooperation and companionship of CTU with the AUN-QA have contributed to promoting the quality of education and training in the Southeast Asian region. The AUN-QA began assessing training programs in 2007, covering 1.214 programs across 8 countries. Currently, the AUN-QA has a broader vision and continually improves to become the leading quality assurance unit in the region. On behalf of the AUN-QA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharul Tazrajiman Hj Tajuddin expressed deep gratitude to CTU for its constant trust, support, and cooperation with the AUN-QA.

According to a survey conducted by CTU for the period 2018 - 2023, the average employment rate of graduates is 95.17%. The satisfaction rate of students with the university’s educational services is 95%; the satisfaction rate of graduates with the training programs is 87%; the satisfaction rate of alumni with the quality of education is 82.94%; and the satisfaction rate of businesses and employers with the training quality is 93%. This is evidence of CTU’s efforts to enhance educational quality and demonstrate CTU’s commitment to meeting domestic and international standards for high-quality human resource training in the Mekong Delta region and the entire country.
