On November 9th, 2017, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector of Can Tho University (CTU) and leader representatives of College of Aquaculture and Fisheries, School of Foreign Languages and International Relations Department welcomed Dr. Marc Millette, Secretary General of Association of Francophone Fisheries Schools, to discusses the opportunities for cooperation between the two sides.

The Association of Francophone Fisheries Schools is an international non-governmental organization established with the missions of promoting and organizing the cooperation among Francophone schools and organizations in the activities related to fisheries sector. The Association reinforces its efforts in such activities as developing fisheries training programs adapted to the changing context and the needs of the labor market; organizing internships and exchanges of teachers and students from the various Francophone fishing schools; promoting production, dissemination of teaching materials and technology transfer; enhancing the capacity of French-language fisheries schools to meet the needs of French-language fisheries training; supporting schools to search for educational equipment and project financing; facilitating exchange of information between French-language fisheries schools; promoting the training of managers and teachers; and promoting joint research implementation.

The Association’s headquarters is located at Quebec’s School of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Quebec, Canada. Dr. Marc Millette is the Secretary General of the Association. On his first visit to CTU, he expressed his joyfulness and suggested CTU to be a member of the Association in the near future. He believed that with strengths in the field of aquaculture and fisheries as well as experiences in training, scientific research, etc. of College of Aquaculture and Fisheries in particular and the University in general, CTU is expected to have great contributions to the development of the University as well as the Association.

At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector of the University expressed his special interest in the invitation for joining the Association of Dr. Marc Millette. The Vice Rector affirmed that CTU will accelerate the process of joining the Association as soon as possible to grasp more opportunities so that cooperative activities to be implemented in the coming time.
