Undergraduate On September 12, 2026, Can Tho University (CTU) held the Graduation Ceremony for Cohort VII of the International Master’s Program in Aquaculture, academic year 2024–2026, recognizing graduates’ academic and research achievements after successfully completing the program. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai – Vice President of CTU; representatives of the College of Aquaculture and Fisheries and the Graduate School; and the graduates and their families.

Launched in 2016, the International Master’s Program in Aquaculture was implemented with support from VLIR-UOS (Belgium), through collaboration among CTU, Ghent University, and other educational and research institutions specializing in aquaculture. It was among the early international master’s programs established at CTU and represented a collaborative training model involving multiple educational and research institutions, as well as experts from Vietnam and abroad.
Cohort VII, academic year 2024–2026, marked a new stage in the program’s development, with CTU directly organizing and delivering all training activities. Most courses were taught by the University’s faculty members and professors, replacing the co-teaching model involving domestic training institutions that had been adopted in previous cohorts. At the same time, the program has continued its collaboration with Ghent University (Belgium), with professors and experts contributing to teaching and engaging in academic and professional exchanges. This continued collaboration has helped maintain an international learning environment for students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai congratulated the graduates on successfully completing the program and receiving their degrees, while commending the professional knowledge, practical skills, and research experience they had gained throughout their studies. The graduates are expected to effectively apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the program to practice, contribute to the sustainable development of aquaculture in their respective countries, and continue to actively engage with the CTU alumni community.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Ut - Rector of the College of Aquaculture and Fisheries at CTU, reviewed the graduates’ academic achievements and their training process. Completing the program provides a solid foundation for the graduates to further develop their professional expertise, pursue research, and apply their knowledge to practice, helping meet the growing demand for highly qualified human resources in the fisheries sector.

Building on the outcomes achieved through successive cohorts, CTU continues to strengthen its role in developing highly qualified human resources for aquaculture, with a focus on integrating education with scientific research and real-world practice, while maintaining an international orientation in postgraduate education. The program also contributes to strengthening and expanding CTU’s connections with educational and research institutions, providing students with opportunities to acquire specialized knowledge, gain practical experience, and engage in diverse academic environments. Through these efforts, the program contributes to meeting the requirements for human resource development and to the sustainable development of aquaculture in particular and the broader fisheries sector in general.
