Inauguration of Center for Francophone Innovation and Cooperation - Can Tho University

Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) is a long-time partner of Can Tho University (CTU). Many cooperative activities in recent years have contributed to the development of the University. The good cooperation's evidence between the two sides is the foundation of "Center for Francophone Innovation and Cooperation - Can Tho University", located at the 6th Floor, the Administrative Building, CTU.

On December 15th, 2018, the inauguration ceremony of the Center for Francophone Innovation and Cooperation - Can Tho University took place at Hall 2, the Administrative Building, CTU. Attending the ceremony were Ms. Ouidad Tebbaa, Director of AUF Asia-Pacific Office; Mr. Nguyen Tan Dai, Head of AUF Office in Ho Chi Minh City; enterprises, partners of CTU. At CTU's side were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector; representatives of CTU's units; Francophone staff and students.

After a year of discussions, the Center for Francophone Innovation and Cooperation - Can Tho University was established with the support of AUF equipment, valued at nearly 440 million VND. The Center has the main task of developing the entrepreneurial culture within the youth and especially creating relationships with businesses to improve the quality, attractiveness of training programs and to create employment opportunities after graduation. As the name implies, the Center is a new and modern space that expresses the spirit of dynamic, encourages the exchange, cooperation and creative thinking for staff and students. In addition, the Center also plays a focal role in developing Francophone cooperative projects at CTU.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Le Viet Dung, Vice Rector of the University shared that CTU fully cooperated with its Francophone partner in Vietnam and has many cooperation programs with Francophone institutions. One of the top concerns of the University is to improve the quality of training. Besides, strengthening international cooperation as well as association with enterprises in training is regarded to be effective way to encourage innovation and start-up, and to increase employment opportunities for students after graduation. The Vice Rector expressed his delight at the establishment of the Center for Francophone Innovation and Cooperation, which was in full accord with the concern of the University. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Viet Dung also sent sincere thanks to AUF for its support of the establishment of the Center. The Vice Rector also expected that the close relationship between the Center, the relevant units in the University and the partners would provide diverse, practical and effective activities in the coming time.

AUF is a multilateral organization, supporting cooperation and solidarity among Francophone higher education institutions. AUF Asia-Pacific Office was located in Hanoi in 1993 with 73 member universities from 12 countries in the region. This year, CTU also became a member of AUF. From then on, the two sides have had extensive cooperation in training, scientific research and publication in French.
