Handover Ceremony of Research Laboratory Complex Building

On the morning of February 25, 2023, Can Tho University (CTU) held the Handover Ceremony of the Research Laboratories Complex (RLC), one of the four constructionsunder the CTU ImprovementProject.

Attending the handover ceremony were Prof. Ishimatsu Atsushi, Academic Advisor, Technical Cooperation Project; Mr. Hirano Koji, Project Management Specialist; Representatives of the contractors. At CTU’s side were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Chairman of the Board of Trusteesl; Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Vice-Rector, Director of the Project Management Unit; Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Vice-Rector and leader representatives of CTU’s units.

Overview of the handover ceremony of RLC Building

RLC is built on an area of 8,193 m2 (5 floors) with a total floor area of 30,161 m2, since 2019 by UDIC Urban Infrastructure Development Investment Corporation. After 3three years of construction with many difficulties and challenges, including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, however, with the efforts and coordination between the Consultants, the Contractors and especially with the support of Ministries, Departmentsand JICA, the Project has been implemented according to the design with aesthetics and high quality.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan appreciated the efforts and effective coordination between the Consultants, the Contractors and especially the Project Management Unitto implement the RLC with the qualified design and hand over to CTU.

After receiving the work from the Project Management Unitat the ceremony, the University officially handed over the RLC to the beneficiary units including the Institute of Food and Biotechnology, College of Engineering, College of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Collegeof Environment and Natural Resources, Information and Network Management Center. In addition, the decisions to establish 44 new laboratories were announced, and the heads of laboratories were assigned to be directly in charge, ensuring effective management and operation in accordance with regulations, investment goals and development orientation of the University.

The Rector hoped that after receiving the RLC, the beneficiary units would quickly develop plans, implement operational activities and effectively exploit the project's facilities, creating outstanding achievements in the near future.

With modern architecture and advanced equipment, RLC contributes to making CTU more spacious, well-equipped and comfortable to serve the teaching, learning and scientific research of CTU’s staff and learners.
