Graduation Ceremony for Doctoral and Master's degree graduates in the first session of 2024

On June 30, 2024, Can Tho University (CTU) solemnly organized the Graduation Ceremony for Doctoral and Master's degree graduates in the first session of 2024 at the Turtle Hall. The ceremony marked an important milestone in the learning and research journey of 16 doctoral candidates and 381 postgraduate students.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung, Vice Rector; representatives of the leadership and lecturers, staff of the CTU's units, along with the new doctoral and master's graduates and their families.

Overview of the Ceremony

Postgraduate education is an important mission of CTU aimed at enhancing the qualifications of the staff, especially lecturers at universities and colleges in the Mekong Delta region. The CTU's postgraduate education program began in 1982. During this period, the Ministry of Education and Training assigned CTU the task of providing doctoral education in two specializations: Microbiology and Agrochemistry - Soil. In 1993, CTU began implementing master's degree programs, starting with four specializations: Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine, and Ecology. CTU has continuously expanded its training programs to meet the needs of society and the labor market.

To date, the university has 57 master's degree programs and 22 doctoral programs, totaling 99 postgraduate programs, including both research-oriented and application-oriented tracks. The current postgraduate enrollment at CTU is 2,354 students, including 261 doctoral candidates and 2,093 master's students. Additionally, in the first admission round of 2024, 564 master's and 41 doctoral candidates were successfully admitted.

In his speech at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong emphasized that "CTU is always committed to the quality of education, aiming to be a place where learners, especially postgraduate students, can maximize their potential, nurture their passion, and develop creative ideas to serve their work and career, and contribute to the development of their units and society. CTU is always striving to become a destination that is worth coming to and is trustworthy for studying and training." Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong also expressed gratitude for the support of the local authorities in the Mekong Delta region, who have consistently created favorable conditions and supported CTU to effectively and quality implement its postgraduate education programs.
