Ceremony to announce the Reappointment of the Rector and to start 2017-2018 school year

On September 09th, 2017, Can Tho University (CTU) held a solemn ceremony to announce the decision to reappoint the Rector for Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, at the same time, to welcome the new school year of 2017-2018. CTU was honored to receive the attendance of national and international guests to share the joy of a new start of the Rectorate Board term of 2017-2022 and the new school year.

The term of 2012-2017 has completed, under the leadership of the Communist Party Committee and Rectorate Board, and the efforts of staff members and students, CTU has achieved plenty of important achievements in training, scientific research, technology transfer, international cooperation, management, facilities equipment, etc. In the past tenure, as Rector of CTU, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ha Thanh Toan has made important contributions to the development of the University, contributing to the overall achievement of the national education system. Winning the trust of the staff and students throughout the University, the trust of the Party Committee, the support of local authorities, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ha Thanh Toan was reappointed by the Minister of Education and Training (MOET) to be the Rector of CTU in the term of 2017-2022.

The school year of 2017-2018 is the first academic year of the new Rectorate Board term, that is the reason why the opening ceremony becomes more meaningful opportunities for CTU to express gratitude to the guests and review the achievements of the past school year.


CTU currently offers 98 undergraduate training programs for about 33,000 full-time students, 43 master programs with 3,100 students, and 16 doctoral programs with 400 students. Each year, the University provides a large number of highly qualified labor for the society. In the 2016-2017 academic year, more than 12,500 graduates have graduated from the University.


Over the past year, CTU has received the timely attention and guidance of leaders of central and local agencies and departments, organizations and individuals in the country and internationally; the trust of people in the Mekong Delta; the enthusiasm of staff; especially the will to learn and overcome difficulties of the students. CTU has successfully completed the tasks of the school year, achieved fundamental success as solid foundation for the University to be ready to acquire outstanding achievements in the new school year.
