"Can Tho University Young Science Talent" Award has presented annually since 2014 to students and young lecturers for outstanding contributions in scientific research. On June 7th, Can Tho University (CTU) celebrated a conference to present this award in 2017.

In the past years, the interests of the leaders of CTU and its units have created favorable conditions to strengthen research activities among lecturers and students. In the period of 2012-2016, the number of research projects conducted by students and young lecturers are 355 and 199 with the considerable budgets of 6.7 and 8 billion, respectively.
With their efforts, CTU young staff and students have achieved encouraging awards. At the "Vietnam Young Science Talent" Award, CTU staff won 01 third prize, 03 fourth prizes (in 2012); 03 third prizes (in 2014). CTU students received 03 third prizes, 04 fourth prizes (in 2012); 03 second prizes, 03 third prizes, 02 fourth prizes (in 2013); 07 third prizes, 04 fourth prizes (in 2014). In addition, 07 prizes were presented by "Holcim Prize" from 2011 to 2016. Kova Award has also been awarded to 27 students with excellent academic performance and good research results in 2013. With "Student Research" Award held by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2016, students of CTU have achieved 01 second prize, 03 third prizes and 04 fourth prizes.

In order to apply for "Student Research" Award in 2017, CTU has received 18 scientific research by students and 09 research works by young staff in the fields of nature sciences, chemical engineering, food technology, electrical engineering, electronics, information technology, agricultural sciences, economics, and sociology. Ten projects of students and 06 research works of staff have been presented the Award "CTU Young Science Talent" at the conference.
