Undergraduate From November 28 to December 1, 2025, over 100 students from Monash University, Australia, participated in the Global Immersion Guarantee (GIG) program at Can Tho University. The students from Monash University were welcomed by Dr. Vo Van Tuan - Vice Director of the Mekong Institute, Can Tho University.

The program aims to promote in-depth academic dialogue between Can Tho University and Monash University on key issues in the Mekong Delta, including local livelihoods, indigenous culture, the impacts of climate change, and community adaptation capacity. Through discussion sessions and field activities, the program provided a bridge between academic perspectives and practical realities, while also gathering valuable insights and recommendations from various stakeholders.
Within the program’s framework, students received an overview of urban flooding in Can Tho City, participated in field surveys of flood prevention infrastructure, and examined the impacts of climate change across the Mekong Delta. They also explored innovative and sustainable agricultural and aquaculture models that enhance climate resilience in the region.
The Global Immersion Guarantee (GIG) program not only creates opportunities for academic and cultural exchange between students of both universities but also contributes to fostering a multicultural learning environment and encourages more international students to choose Vietnam for study, research, and experiential learning. This activity opens up important opportunities to further develop international student exchange programs at Can Tho University. Concurrently, it enhances Can Tho University’s reputation and affirms its position as a trusted destination within the international education cooperation network for future exchange and experiential learning programs."
