On February 28th, 2024, College of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Can Tho University (CTU) held the Graduation Ceremony for international Masters in Aquaculture - 4th Cohort (2021 - 2023).

The international Master's program in Aquaculture taught in English was launched in 2016 with the support of the VLIR-OUS program, making it one of the first international Master's programs at CTU. Up to the present, it has gone through six cohorts, enrolled 65 students worldwide. In the 4th cohort, there were six students from five countries consisting of Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Philippines, and Tanzania.
The international Master's program in Aquaculture at CTU follows a new model and has obtained AUN-QA certification in 2023. There were the cooperation and contributions of domestic and foreign institutions including Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hue University, Nha Trang University, Research Institute for Aquaculture No. 2, and Ghent University of Belgium. This is a special academic program first organized at CTU, with the cooperation and support of many institutions, making the program unique and beneficial for learners, enhancing the practicality of the learning process, and meeting societal needs. CTU is the most important training institution responsible for this program.
In his speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh congratulated the new masters and affirmed that the Graduation Ceremony is an important event for the graduates to memorize the moment of receiving the degree after the two years of diligent study at CTU. The rector also emphasized that this is an honor, pride, and success of the University in particular and partner institutions in general in receiving and training international students. These are valuable opportunities to promote the quality of education and reputation of CTU in education community.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Ut, Dean of the College of Aquaculture and Fisheries presented a summary report on the training process and learning outcomes of the students. In addition to the knowledge and skills, this program with special model has provided opportunities for students to experience and intern at aquaculture enterprises in the Mekong Delta region, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Research Institute for Aquaculture No. 2. This helps students gain practical experience to meet the job requirements in their home countries.

Representing the graduates, Master Sirikwa Levis Nambwaya expressed his joyfulness and pride in having the opportunity to study in Vietnam, especially at CTU and shared that appearing at the graduation ceremony was not easy due to language barriers, cultural differences, and academic pressures. However, becoming a post-graduate student at CTU has provided unforgettable experiences. In particular, the practical approach in training at CTU will help students easily apply the knowledge to real job situations.
