On October 4th, 2019, ODA Project Management Unit, Can Tho University (CTU) held Contract Signing Ceremony for Package 05 "Facility construction work for research laboratory complex (RLC) and net houses" and Package 06 "Facility construction work for advanced technology laboratory (ATL) and hatcheries" under CTU Improvement Project.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of JICA CTU Project including Prof. Tsunoda Manabu, Chief Advisor; Prof. Ishimatsu Atsushi; Mr. Okamoto Satoshi, Consultant; and the awared contractors. From CTU's side, there were Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Hien, Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Vice rector, Director of ODA Project Management Unit; leader representatives of CTU's units, coordinators and members of ODA Project Management Unit.

Complying with the provisions of bidding law, CTU organized contractor selection for package 05 "Facility construction work for research laboratory complex (RLC) and net houses" and package 06 "Facility construction work for advanced technology laboratory (ATL) and hatcheries" applying single-stage, two-envelope bidding procedure.
At the ceremony, representative of the ODA Project Management Unit announced the related documents including Decision No. 4296/QĐ-ĐHCT dated on September 30th, 2019 of CTU's Rector on approving the result of contractor selection and Announcement No. 208/TB-PMU.VN14-P6 dated on October 1st, 2019 of CTU Project Management Unit on the result of contractor selection for package 05. Accordingly, the selected contractor is Urban Infrastructure Development Investment Corporation - One member Co., Ltd.
For package 06, Decision No. 4297/QĐ-ĐHCT was issued on September 30th, 2019 by CTU's Rector on approving the result of contractor selection and Announcement No. 209/TB-PMU.VN14-P6 was dated on October 1st, 2019 of CTU Project Management Unit on the result of contractor selection for package 06 with the first ranked contractor, the Joint Venture of Thanh An Corporation and 789 Corporation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, CTU's Rector emphasized the importance of the bidding packages to the overall progress and success of the Project and hoped that after signing, the relevant parties will strictly implement the terms of the contracts, to ensure safety and security during the construction progress, in full compliance with the provisions on compulsory insurance in the construction, and protect the surrounding environment. Besides, Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan expressed his thanks to the contractors, JICA, the consultants for supporting CTU to implement the Project.

CTU Improvement Project using ODA loans of the Government of Japan has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training in March 2015 with the aim of strengthening CTU to become an excellent higher education institution, internationally recognized in training, scientific research, technology transfer and governance, in three priority areas of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Environment. The success of the Project is expected to make a great contribution to the rapid and sustainable development of the Mekong Delta, contributing to the overall development of the University, accompanying advanced universities in the world, and the development of the country.
Five components implemented in the Project include human resource development, research projects, facility development, procurement of research equipment, and consulting services. Accordingly, under the component of facility development, the construction items include research laboratory complex, advanced technology laboratory, net house, and hatcheries.
