On September 11, 2025, Can Tho University (CTU) held the closing session of the 467th ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Programme Assessment for four academic programmes: Bachelor's in Marketing, Bachelor's of Engineering in Aquatic Pathology, Master's in Information Systems, and Master's in Food Technology.
Attending the closing session were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amalina Muhammad Afifi - Chief Assessor; Ms. Kodchakorn Phaisitsrisawat - AUN-QA Secretariat; along with lead assessors and team members. From CTU’s side, participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh - Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung - Vice Rector; representatives from the Department of Quality Management; leaders of relevant units.

After three days of dedicated, rigorous, and collaborative work, the assessment concluded successfully, reaffirming CTU’s strong commitment to enhancing educational quality and aligning its academic programmes with international standards. This marks the third AUN-QA assessment hosted by CTU in 2025 and the 14th since officially joining the ASEAN University Network in 2013.
From September 9 to 11, 2025, the AUN-QA Assessment Team conducted a series of intensive activities, including facility inspections, evaluation of self-assessment reports, verification of quality assurance conditions, collaborative activities between CTU, students, and businesses, as well as multi-dimensional interviews with faculty members and stakeholders to collect comprehensive and objective information.

In his closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung expressed his gratitude to all AUN-QA assessors and university units for their dedication, commitment, and collaboration throughout the self-assessment process and during the two-day on-site visit at CTU. He also extended his appreciation to the entire CTU faculty and staff for their continued contributions to education, research, and community engagement. The Vice Rector emphasized that the preliminary findings and recommendations from the AUN-QA Assessment Team are invaluable not only for the assessed programmes but also for the University as a whole.

Representing the AUN-QA Assessment Team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amalina Muhammad Afifi shared that the time spent together evaluating the programmes, examining quality, and reflecting on ways to improve was intended to set a course for elevating these academic programmes to the next level, thereby producing generations of talented students in the future. The assessors’ reports will play a crucial role in advancing CTU’s operations.

The AUN-QA Assessment Team commended CTU’s continuous efforts in innovating and improving its academic programmes; strengthening faculty capacity; modernizing curricula to ensure practical relevance; and investing in infrastructure and student support services to foster a comprehensive, forward-looking, and sustainable educational environment.

The positive outcomes of this assessment not only reflect CTU’s ongoing dedication to quality assurance and educational improvement but also affirm its alignment with international standards. As of August 2025, a total of 41 academic programmes at CTU have been assessed under AUN-QA standards, marking significant progress in the University’s strategy for quality enhancement and international integration. The recommendations from the AUN-QA Assessment Team will serve as a crucial foundation for the continuous improvement of CTU’s academic programmes, strengthening teaching, research, and community engagement, thereby enhancing the University’s reputation, affirming its regional and international standing, and creating lasting value for learners and society.
