Can Tho University Signs Cooperation Agreement with Chihlee University of Technology (Taiwan): Expanding Collaboration in Education and Academic Exchange

On September 7, 2026, Dr. Le Van Lam - Vice President of Can Tho University (CTU), welcomed and held a working session with Prof. Dr. Chen Ju-Long - President, and Prof. Dr. Yang Ya-Tang - Vice President of Chihlee University of Technology (Taiwan). During the meeting, the two universities discussed and identified directions for cooperation in education and training, research, student exchange, and academic exchange, laying the foundation for the signing of a cooperation agreement and the implementation of future collaborative activities.

Building on these discussions, representatives of CTU and Chihlee University of Technology focused on student exchange programs, dual-degree programs, and co-supervision of master’s theses in areas with strong potential for collaboration, including engineering, information technology, economics, and languages. These areas offer opportunities for the two universities to leverage their complementary strengths in education, research, and practical applications, while expanding learning and research opportunities for students.

Notably, the discussions extended beyond higher education to explore opportunities for broader engagement at the secondary education level. The two universities discussed plans to organize student exchange activities at CTU Elite High School, providing high school students with opportunities to gain early exposure to an international educational environment, learn about different cultures, and broaden their educational horizons. This could also serve as a foundation for building a continuous pathway from secondary to higher education, linking exchange experiences with longer-term opportunities for learning and development.

The working session was held at the Administration Building of CTU

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Le Van Lam expressed his appreciation to Prof. Dr. Chen Ju-Long and the delegation for taking the time to visit and work with CTU. The Vice President of CTU noted that, as part of its development strategy, CTU considers international cooperation an important approach to enhancing the quality of education and research and developing human resources, with Taiwan being one of the University’s priority international partners. To date, CTU has signed 63 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements with 47 universities, businesses, and corporations in Taiwan. These partnerships have been developed not only through collaborative programs between educational institutions but also through the training and exchange of human resources.

Building on this foundation, Dr. Le Van Lam expressed his expectation that the visit and working session with Chihlee University of Technology would open up new opportunities for cooperation aligned with the strengths and development priorities of both universities. CTU is ready to facilitate closer engagement between the relevant units of the two institutions and gradually develop specific cooperation programs, creating more opportunities for international learning, research, and exchange for faculty members, students, and other learners.

Dr. Le Van Lam noted that CTU currently has 142 staff and faculty members who have studied in Taiwan, including 86 PhD holders and 56 master’s degree holders. Each year, more than 700 students from CTU travel to Taiwan for internships and exchange programs

Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Chen Ju-Long expressed his pleasure at the initial results of cooperation between the two universities and his expectation that the partnership with CTU would continue to be strengthened and developed into a substantive and long-term partnership. The President of Chihlee University of Technology expressed his wish to offer more opportunities for high school and university students from CTU to study, engage in exchange activities, and gain experience in Taiwan through scholarship programs. Prof. Dr. Chen Ju-Long affirmed that Chihlee University of Technology is ready to work alongside CTU to expand areas of cooperation, leverage the complementary strengths of the two institutions, and gradually develop in-depth cooperation programs that bring practical value to students and faculty members.
