The Mekong Delta region, specifically, the canal and dam system, is severely affected by climate change and other impacts by human. Besides, the shortcomings of sediment load lead to the abuse of fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture, greatly influencing the environment.

Aiming to learn about the effects of climate change and water management in the Mekong Delta, on May 14th, 2019, Mr. Kyle Nunas, Consul General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh city had a meeting with the experts of Can Tho University (CTU).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Viet Dung, Rector of CTU shared that climate change is a serious issue; therefore, it is necessary to draw the attention and companion of many domestic units and foreign friends; thereby, CTU is always willingness to support and cooperate with Canadian experts in exchanging human resources, researching, and organizing relevant conferences and workshops, etc. Thanks to the support of the Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh city, it is believed that there will be many practical projects between CTU and Canadian partners in the future.
