The Conference aimed to disseminate information about the Net Zero Science and Technology Program to the business community, scientific and technological organizations, research institutes, universities, and scientists. The program seeks to promote research, innovation, and the application of new and green technologies, along with science-based solutions, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It emphasizes green transformation and circular economy development, with applications across various fields, including industrial production, transportation, renewable energy, and smart agriculture.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat in his opening remarks |
In his opening speech, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat shared that: “The Net Zero Science and Technology Program provides a crucial foundation for advancing groundbreaking solutions, such as carbon capture and storage technologies, improving environmental quality, and preserving biodiversity. It also serves as a driving force for innovation, creating jobs in the green technology sector and enhancing Vietnam’s competitiveness globally. This conference presents an opportunity to discuss and identify practical solutions for achieving the Net Zero target in the Mekong Delta. This region plays a pivotal role in Vietnam’s socio-economic development but faces the most severe impacts of climate change. Although the goal is challenging, I firmly believe we can transform these challenges into opportunities with responsibility, determination, and close coordination among government agencies, businesses, and the scientific community. The Mekong Delta will lead in climate change adaptation and pioneering sustainable and innovative solutions.”
Mr. Duong Tan Hien in his speech |
During the Conference, Mr. Duong Tan Hien emphasized: “Can Tho City has been actively cooperating with other localities in the Mekong Delta to implement programs and projects to address climate change and protect resources and the environment. It has also engaged in international cooperation programs and conventions related to water resources, meteorology, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation through exchanges and implementing projects supported by international organizations. These efforts aim to enhance Can Tho City’s capacity to address climate change, manage water resources sustainably, and improve resilience. As the Mekong Delta's economic, scientific, technological, and innovation hub, Can Tho City has significantly promoted ecological, circular, and organic production models. It has focused on methane emission reduction and integrating greenhouse gas mitigation solutions into sectors like agriculture.”
