Undergraduate Within the framework of the working trip to the 59th Annual Conference of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE 2025) held in Quebec City, Canada, from November 2 to 5, 2025, Can Tho University and the University of Waterloo (Canada) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), creating favorable conditions to further enhance and expand cooperation between the two universities in the coming years.
The University of Waterloo was recognized as one of Canada’s leading universities - ranked first in innovation and consistently listed among the world’s Top 100 universities worldwide - renowned for its strengths in technology, engineering, entrepreneurship, and health sciences. The signing of this MoU marked a significant milestone, reflecting the positive and sustainable development of a partnership that has been effectively initiated and nurtured between the two universities.

According to the agreement, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in education, science - technology, and innovation, with specific activities including:
- Student exchange and mutual recognition of academic credits;
- Joint training programs under 2+2, 3+1, and other transfer models;
- Joint implementation of large-scale and strategic research projects in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, agriculture, aquaculture, and health sciences;
- Sharing of expertise, and co-organizing scientific conferences and academic development programs.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Can Tho University and the University of Waterloo not only opened up practical and sustainable opportunities for collaboration with one of Canada’s top universities, but also contributed to enhancing Can Tho University’s capacity in education, research, and innovation. This milestone represented an important step in Can Tho University’s strategy for the internationalization of education, aiming to develop Can Tho University into a regional university of international stature - a center for training, research, and knowledge transfer in the Mekong Delta region. The partnership with the University of Waterloo also reaffirmed Can Tho University’s strong commitment to building a dynamic ecosystem of education, research, and innovation, thereby contributing effectively to the sustainable development of Vietnam and the world.
